Spirit:

Vodka

Drinkware:

Chilled Coupe Glass

Served:

Up

Garnish:

Lime Wheel

About the Recipe

The drink was created by British Royal Navy surgeon Sir Thomas Gimlette in the 19th century, and it was originally made with equal parts of Gin and Lime Juice and was used as a way to prevent scurvy among sailors. The recipe eventually made its way to shore, where it became a popular cocktail, where bartenders tweaked the recipe making it much more palatable as well as using Vodka for non-Gin loving folks. You can use either spirit for a gimlet.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz Vodka

  • ¾ oz lime juice, freshly squeezed

  • ½ oz simple syrup

Preparation

Add the vodka, lime juice and simple syrup into a shaker with ice and shake until shaker becomes very cold. Stain into glass.
